Saturday family fun day in Brewer offers outdoor activities for all

If you’re looking to spend some times learning new skills and introducing your kids to outdoor activities, the folks at the Penobscot County Conservation Association in Brewer have just the event for you.

On Saturday, June 4, the club is holding a Family Fun Day at their clubhouse, which is located off Route 9 (North Main Street) in Brewer. The event runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and there’s no charge to participate in activities, and food will be available for purchase. One rule: Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Here’s some of what’s on tap:

  • Archery
  • Air rifle instruction
  • Fly tying
  • Fly casting
  • Canoe rides on the Penobscot in a 28-foot canoe
  • Meet a game warden
  • Meet Smoky Bear
  • Learn more about the Atlantic Salmon Federation’s Fish Friends program
  • Learn about owls at 10 a.m.

There’s plenty to do, and I hope to get over to Brewer to document some of the action for a future blog.

Hope to see you there!
