When 3,095 moose permits were awarded to lucky applicants in Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon, Maine game warden Kris MacCabe was among the hopeful prospective hunters in attendance.
If you’re a fan of “North Woods Law,” the Animal Planet TV show that focuses on the Maine Warden Service, you’re likely familiar with MacCabe.
You might even be aware that some rabid fans of the show think the young warden is a good-looking fellow, and refer to him as “MacBabe.”
On Saturday, MacCabe was one of the fortunate: His name emerged from the cyber-hopper, and he’ll be heading on a moose hunt of his own this fall … if, that is, his superiors grant him the time off.
After learning the good news, the off-duty MacCabe was in a good mood, and even donned a set of paper antlers that many of the the younger audience members were wearing.
Important outdoor news? Hardly.
But since our readers have let us know how much they enjoy all things “North Woods Law,”
here’s a photo of the antlered MacCabe.
I have a feeling that this photo may come back to haunt the good-natured warden. Who knows? Someone may even dig it out at his retirement party many years from now.
Seriously, though: Here’s hoping MacCabe and his father have a great hunt this fall.
And good luck to all the moose hunters who earned their permits this year.
As for the rest of us: Maybe next year!
