If you’re hoping to take part in this fall’s Maine moose hunt, you’ve only got hours left to complete your on-line registration for the state-run permit lottery.

Time is running out for those who want to take part in this year’s Maine moose hunt. The deadline for applying for the state-run lottery is 11:59 p.m. today, May 14. (BDN photo by Brian Feulner)
According to rules set up by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, all applications must be completed by 11:59 p.m. today — Wednesday, May 14.
Entering for the lottery is simple, and can be accomplished via the state’s automated licensing system.
Before you log on, call your subpermittee and make sure you’ve got their birth date; that’s one of the questions the computer will ask. (Note: If your subpermittee is your wife, and you don’t remember her birth date, you may want to forego this year’s hunt and spend the week studying important dates. See also: Anniversary, etc.)
In all, 3,095 hunters will be allowed to take part in this year’s hunt.
This year’s drawing will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Gentile Building on the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus.
Good luck!
