Harrington seventh-grader’s first deer a 200-pounder

We’re nearing the end of the first full week of the firearms deer season (not counting Youth Deer Day, which was back on Oct. 26), and some pretty neat deer tales are landing on my desk.

Keanna Reynolds, 12, had a Youth Deer Day to remember on Oct. 26, 2013, when she shot this 10-point buck that weighed 200 pounds. Keanna is a seventh-grader at Harrington Elementary School. (Photo courtesy of Monica Reynolds).

Monica Reynolds passed along the story of her 12-year-old daughter Keanna, whose first deer was one she’ll always remember.

Keanna spent Youth Deer Day hunting with her father, Kevin Reynolds, and her brother, 15-year-old Dustin Reynolds.

Keanna, who is a seventh-grader at Harrington Elementary School, turned out to be the eagle eye of the bunch.

“Keanna spotted the deer and told her father to look at the deer,” Monica Reynolds wrote. “By the time her father got the chance to see it, Keanna had pulled up her gun and shot him. She said her heart started pounding, knowing it was a big buck.”

It was: Keanna’s deer — her first — was a 10-pointer that weighed in at 200 pounds.
