Feeding time in Alaska: Bear cam offers real-time look at nature

We’re always on the lookout for cool outdoorsy web cams, and this weekend a Facebook friend linked to this site, which is a real eye-opener: http://explore.org/live-cams/player/brown-bear-salmon-cam-brooks-falls

The site, run by Explore, features many nature cams, but this one features brown bears feeding on the salmon run at Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park in Alaska.

What will you find? Well, if you’re lucky you’ll see a line of bears fishing near the falls. If you’re not so lucky, you might see one or two. But even if no bears are present, my stepson and I watched the falls closely and saw plenty of large salmon trying to leap upriver.

One warning: If you’re at work, click on the link at your own risk. Your productivity may dip as you watch the fishing bears.
